PATRIOTIC ART CONTEST
Theme: Awarding our Heroes: Our military heroes from all service branches are honored for their service, accomplishments, and acts of valor through various accolades such as badges, insignia, ribbons, and medals. This year, we would love your help in designing your very own award to honor our heroes!
TO ENTER:
- Email submission to info@washingtoncountyfair-ri.com by Sunday, August 8th and include your First & Last Name, DOB, and City you live. Please use “Patriotic Art & Essay Contest” in the subject line. Please also include best contact information.
- Canvas or Paper (8.5 x 11)
- Materials allowed: Watercolor, Colored Pencil, Pastel, Charcoal, Tempera, Crayon, Acrylic Paint, Pen, Ink, Oil, or Marker.
- With submission include a short explanation of the meaningful message of the artwork (with exception of the youngest age group)
- Creator MUST be between enter the correct age category , and include a valid DOB with submission
- To have artwork displayed on the fairgrounds, all artwork must be brought to the main office by Tuesday, August 12th. All winners MUST bring their artwork to the main office by Tuesday August 12th or have the prize forfeited.
- We need the contact information of a parent or guardian for each participant
Category #1: Ages 2-5: Coloring Contest
Directions: Choose a from the website of a medal to design/color to award our military heroes. Website:

Category #2: Ages 6-9:Category #3: Ages 10-13:
Prizes: 1st Place $50, 2nd Place $35, 3rd Place $20
Children in these two categories may choose one of the above images to design
or create their own award for our military heroes. Please include a small index
card with a brief description of your design. This may include an explanation of
certain details, the inspiration behind their design, or any information they would
like to include to help the judges learn a bit more about their designs.
DISPLAY INFO: We request ALL participants to drop off their artwork at the main office on Tuesday, August 12th to be displayed throughout the fairgrounds.
PRIZES: The veterans and active military members of the fair committee, or their delegates, will choose winners and announce winners by Monday August 11th. All winners must bring their artwork to the fairgrounds on Tuesday, August 12th. If it is not received, winners will forfeit their place and the second place individual will be called. Cash prize for each winner within each category will receive an award and complimentary family 4 pack of tickets for admission into Thursday’s Fair, August 14th. Winners will have their artwork displayed on Thursday August 14th at the fair and will be presented with their award on Thursday August 14th at 6:30 PM. All winners MUST BE PRESENT to receive their award that night.
